Nolan Croucher — President
Hi everyone! My name is Nolan and I have the honour of serving you as your President this year. I am currently in my fourth year of computer science. I hope to work in cybersecurity when I graduate. When I’m not locked into school, I enjoy reading, playing video games with friends, and listening to music.
I have been a part of Newman since my first year, and this community has been an incredible blessing in my life. Throughout my time at Newman, I have grown tremendously in both my faith, and as a person. I have made many of my closest friends here, and have witnessed so many peoples lives change through this community. In my role as President, I hope that I can continue to build up Newman as a place for great fellowship, fun, and strong faith. I am particularly looking forward to the Thursday Mass and dinner, and seeing all the new faces!
I can’t wait to meet all of you this year! God Bless!
Angela Metron — Vice President
Hello everyone! My name is Angela and I have the privilege of serving as Vice President of Newman House this year! I am in my fourth year of Concurrent Education, completing a Joint-Honours degree in Music and French. I hope to be your kid’s favourite music teacher one day!
In my free time I enjoy taking walks by the water, watching sitcoms (avid New Girl fan right here), or catching up with family and friends. Around campus, you can find me at the Bader enjoying the beautiful study view, but most often, at CoGro, either working at the cash register or enjoying my cheddar bagel (double toasted of course)!
Trying to reconnect with my Catholic faith in university was an intimidating undertaking. When I first explored Newman, I was immediately welcomed in with open arms and felt at home. Since I became involved in my second year, I have been so blessed by this community, and have grown immensely in my relationship with Jesus. From taking Faith Studies, to socials and Thursday Mass & Dinners, there is a place and a space for everyone. In my role, I want to foster the same loving atmosphere I experienced when I first walked in - one that emulates the Father’s love so evidently.
I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for us this year! Never hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or want a friendly face to walk to Mass with! I can’t wait to meet y’all! God bless!
Sofia Chavez — Social Outreach Coordinator
Hi everyone! My name is Sofia and I have the privilege of serving you as social media outreach coordinator this year! I have been attending Newman since my 2nd year and I am so happy to give back to this community which has given me so much throughout the years. Newman House is so incredibly special to me and has been such a testament of God’s generosity and blessings. It has been where I have made some of my closest friends at Queen’s but above all else, it has allowed me to deepen my relationship with Christ and to encounter Him right here, on Queen’s campus. The community at Newman is like no other and I wish for everyone to experience it!
I am currently in my 5th year of Life Science and hoping to be a dentist in the future! You’ll usually find me studying either at Newman, the law library and or 4th floor in Stauffer. If I’m not studying I’m usually hanging out with my friends, reading, and in all honesty, sleeping.
I’m looking forward to all the different events we’re going to host this year! If you’re new to the community, I definitely recommend coming to any of our events, you’ll meet so many new people! Our Thursday mass and dinners have always been the best part of my week. What better way to finish off the school week than to go to mass and then have a banging dinner after??
Dawson D’Silva — Liturgical Coordinator
Hello everyone! I am Dawson D’Silva, and I’m honored to serve as your liturgical coordinator this year. Currently in my fifth year of mechanical engineering at Queen’s University, I recently completed an 16-month professional internship in nuclear engineering and plan to pursue a career in the energy sector.
Outside of academics, I’m passionate about cars—I'm part of the FSAE team—history, and traveling to explore landmarks and new places. But one of the most meaningful parts of my life has been my involvement with the Newman House Chaplaincy. I joined in my second year and found a welcoming community that has been instrumental in my personal and spiritual growth. This place has shaped my undergraduate experience, and I’m excited to give back by coordinating the liturgies this year.
Raised as a devout Catholic, I was drawn to Traditional Catholicism. Growing up, I didn’t encounter many who shared that interest, but here at Newman House, I found others who shared my appreciation for traditional practices. It’s been a joy to be part of such a vibrant, faith-filled group.
I look forward to serving our community through beautifully coordinated liturgies and meaningful practices that strengthen our shared faith. I can't wait to get to know you all through our journey together. Pax Christi!
Bella Herbert — Secretary and Treasurer
Hi everyone! My name is Bella and I am the secretary and treasurer this year. I am in my fourth year of Political Science and certificate of law. I am working towards becoming a lawyer, and am currently applying to law schools!
In my free time you'll find me working out, at dance practice, taking pictures of the sunset, or talking about my travels. (I'm a huge traveler and have been to over 20 countries!)
I have been coming to Newman since the first week of my first year of undergrad! Newman has blessed me so much over the past 3+ years, providing me with such an amazing community where I have made great friends, helped me strengthen my faith while living away from home, and always gave me a place where I felt welcomed and at home.
In my final year here at Newman, I want to give back to the community that has given me so much. My favourite part of the school week is always Thursday night Mass and dinner so I will always be there and hope to see so many more people there too!
